The Anagen phase (growing phase) is when the hair is actively growing. The anagen phase may last 20 to 45 days. The Catagen phase (transition phase). It is in this phase, that the hair is preparing to be shed. Hair growth stops, the hair sheath shrinks and attaches to the root of the hair. This phase may last 2 to 3 weeks. The Telogen phase (resting phase). There is no hair growth in this phase. This is when the hair is waiting to regenerate from the hair follicle. It is at the end of this phase, a new hair begins to grow from the hair follicle and causes the old hair to be shed. Pulling a hair in this phase will display a hard, dry white substance at the root, called keratin. The Hair Growth Cycle Is A Repeating Process Each hair is in a different stage of growth at different times, hence the variation for hair removal schedules. Once the papilla (bulb) is destroyed fully, the hair will no longer regenerate and permanent hair removal is achieved.
